hey there friends

Thanks for being patient with me

These last few months have been seriously crazy for me. I've got some news to share with you! I know I promised this a little while ago but as I've said my life has been crazy. Anyway now my news:

This fall I started my sophomore year at college.
I was more excited than ever because I finally found the right school for me!
In case you're wondering I am majoring in archeology and ceramics and I'm pumped.
However this happiness was a little bit dampened because of some health problems I have been having.
It all started back on February 6th of this year with the god damn snow storm!!

You see I get these seriously horrific migraines.
And now it turns out that my whole nervous system is fucked.
Shit, yeah I know...

Anyway I attempted to balance college with all this going on,
yeah such a bad idea!
Now I have decided I must take the next semester off,
which should be enough time, plus next summer, to get all this crap figured out.
At least I really, really hope so!

So again, thanks so much for being patient with me through all this.
Now that I've got a a lot more time on my hands I promise I will return to regular posting again.
Hopefully I'll even be able to manage posting daily!
Well let's be realistic about this, regular posting after the holidays,
I've still got a lot of shopping to do.

Till next time...

Oh ps. how fantastic is that picture? I don't know where this is but I'd like to put a cute little house right in that clearing. Can't you see it now? A little wooden house with white windows and a moss covered roof?! I sure can.

friday

.

Hello there, today happens to be Friday! I am sure you were already aware of that but I thought I would inform you anyway, incase you had forgotten or something like that. And what is even better than the fact today is Friday you ask?! It is Friday and I have a new dress to wear today! This fantastic dress is the result of the give away I won a month or so ago from the Drifter and the Gypsy. It came in the mail yesterday and it it amazing! Best purchase in such a while!
Hope your friday is going as well as mine.

Also I can't wait for it to snow.

november where did you go?

Incase you hadn't noticed it is December already

Apparently I was one of those who neglected to notice how quickly time was passing by. Just today I realized that is has been over a month since I had a new post. This is unacceptable, as I'm sure you agree. However... I am glad to share that I have made some major changes in the past month. I hope that these will allow me to pay more attention to my lovely blog here. I'll be sure to share these with you in a few days but for now just light yourself a cozy fire and cuddle up with blanket, my favorite thing to do on a rainy day such as thus.

perfect october wardrobe

These four tops are just a taste of what's for sale now on the Wildfox Couture website. All I've got so say is... these clothes are the embodiment of my personality. I've seriously got to find away to make some money soon and put this poor college student thing in the past because these clothes are calling my name! I recently ordered some similar tops like the Sparkle & Fade Skull Striped tee and the Tarot Card tee (I cannot wait to see this beauty in my closet) form Urban. Check them out they're pretty wicked.

hello kitty kitty

I adopted an adorable cat named Arwen a few months back. She's such a cutie. Also a little insane but that just adds to her character. She is being a grump today and won't come snuggle next to me. Thus I had to get my cute cat fix somewhere else today. Thank goodness for flickr.

why hello there perfect contest

So the wonderful blog The Drifter and the Gypsy is having, in case you hadn't already figured it out, a contest. Not just any contest no, the winner will receive a $100 gift card to Alternative Apparel's holiday collection and I don't know about you but I sure want that winner to be me. I never win anything though so that is alright. I can still hope though...

oh fall...

It's fall (incase you hadn't noticed) and today sure feels like it. This morning started off cold and rainy, which was fine by me because I'm strange and like weather like that, but the best part, without a doubt was the cool crisp biting fall wind that washed against my face as I walked to class. And everyone knows that with the start of fall comes the season of magic. It shouldn't come as a surprise that this is my favorite time of year and with halloween right around the corner I simply just cannot wait. I recommend that you get into the magical spirt by picking up a book about witchcraft. That's what I've been up to these past few days and let me tell you it has been seriously fascinating.
Till next time...

where I'd like to live

What is there not to love about this house? From the rough but beautifully aged exterior to the lovely flowering bush that dominates the right side of the frame everything about this house screams mystery. Which, of course, by association screams my name.
Won't someone buy this for me?

why hello there beautiful blog...

beth

Oh how I have missed thee. It has been much too terribly long since we last met. I know I've been away, and it has been awful but the fault is not mine, blame midterms for I am certain they are responsible fro keeping me away from you dearest blog. But never fear for the midterms are just about finished and thus, I return to you.

Look for many new posts soon

I swear, they will be arriving any time now

Till next time...

mineral paintings

These fantastic mineral paintings by Carly Waito completely blow my mind. When I first caught a glimpse of them on the all around fantastic blog Unruly Things I seriously thought I was looking a mineral photographs that's how amazing these paintings are. I want them... and I wish I could paint this well. Thats it.

Secondly I would like to point out that I've been a bit absent lately. My world got a little crazy these past few days but hopefully all will calm down soon. Yeah like that's likely to happen. One can dream though.

9.05.2010

Seriously, let's go make some magic today.

where I'd like to live

This is fantastic. Who doesn't love this picture because I am seriously dying over it? As I've mentioned in the past I love water, reason why I love this number one. Reason two, fantastic historic homes. Reason three, killer plants and trees (do you see all those colors, remnant of fall no? 19 days away in case you're wondering). Reason four, fantastic historic homes with killer plants and trees and its all on the water! Could it get any better? I think not.

9.02.2010

the next 20 days

---_0011

There's only twenty days left of summer. I'm sure going to miss those hot summer nights and the warm weather but with the start of September comes the start of fall and I am anxiously awaiting it's arrival. Gray misty days. The smell of a campfire floating somewhere off in the distance, invisible and illusive. The sharp, crisp air that feels intoxicating even as it bites at your skin. The brilliant colors that arrive in such a rush to blanket the earth for a short while before the cold vacant winter arrives.

However the thing I love most about fall (besides the fact that it's my favorite season, in case you hadn't guessed) is the magic that it brings. There are hidden bits of magic everywhere (as long as you seek them out) but somehow they always seem more visible in the later months. I don't know, maybe it's just me. I've just got a thing for magic

where I'd like to be right now

So it's another fantastically beautiful day outside today.
I've spent some of the time catching up on a few assignments but for the most part I've just been lying around listening to the sound of the wind rushing through my open windows. It's just short of perfect and I intend to soak up as much of this end of summer bliss as I can while it still lasts. The only thing that could make this day any better? A freakishly gorgeous treehouse that's adorned with drapery in the middle of the woods. Throw in a generous sized creek for swimming and yeah, I'd say a place like this would be absolutely perfect just about now.

8.26.2010

I've got a thing for the sky

I don't know how many hot summer days I have spent laying, with my back sticking to the sweating ground, staring up at the foreign world above. It's nights like these, where the weather is particularly wonderful, (a humidity free 80 degree evening here) that make me yearn for a soft blanket to lay on and my cute boy, who's sadly working late, to lay with. I love watching the clouds roll by and the stars begin to shine. Just another benefit of cool summer evenings. I hate that they are coming to an end.

8.23.2010

where I'd like to be right now

Just some amazing photos for now.

I tend to live in my head the majority of the time and these photos are full of the unique, magical and imaginative qualities that fill up my head when I wander off.

...

This is how I feel today

just great...

8.16.2010

The past year has been the most stressful year of my life. Everything, despite my fervent attempts to the contrary, have hastily zoomed by leaving me wondering how I got here and in one piece nonetheless. With college starting up again in just one week I very much hope that there is a serious decrease of stress and a sense of calm with the year to come. Somehow however I don't think that will be the case.

where I'd like to live

Can't get enough of old houses that just ooze character. Also all the flowers are outstandingly gorgeous.

8.10.2010

much too long

I've been away, in case you hadn't noticed, for quite some time now. My life decided to blow up all at once and there have been a million things on my mind as of late that have kept me away from blogging.  However I am back now and I've brought a fantastic surprise! My dear, dear friend and cousin Inés (she's the cutie to the left up above while I'm on the right)  will now be blogging alongside me. I am very excited to introduce her to the blog because she is such an amazing person and I can't wait to see what unique and inspiring things she finds to share. I'm sure you'll meet her soon. Until then...

7.17.2010

Had to share this because it is so fucking beautiful. I can't stand it.

107

It's been sizzling this week. Today the temperature reached a outrageous 107 degrees and I seriously could have died. The majority of my day was spent at the hospital visiting my older cousin who just gave birth to a freakishly gorgeous baby girl.
(and for me to say a baby is cute really means something because newborns kind of freak me out)

However the most relaxing part of my day was this evening when I finally got to cool off and get in the pool. It's been ages since I actually swam, not just sitting by the side or on a float chatting with my friends but actually for serious swam.

Water.
Is a crucial part of who I am
Being underwater is unlike anything else I have ever experienced.
And simply can't get enough of it.

7.03.2010

So I think my fish is dying. He's an adorable royal blue beta named Leopold. I've had him for almost a year, transported him to and from my dorm multiple times, practically brought him back from the dead, and now he is sadly floating around the bottom of his little jar looking like death.

I know one year is a pretty good life for a house fish but its still very upsetting, watching him knowing there is nothing more I can do.

A few years ago my dad killed all of the fish in our pond by mistake. He was adding a bit more water with the garden  hose right before we left to head to my cousin's wedding. Unfortunately, when we returned the next day my father realized he had forgotten to turn off the water before we left and the sudden increase in chlorine killed every single fish. My dad was distraught to say the least. He felt so bad for accidentally murdering all his fish friends.

I know I didn't do anything to harm my fish but I still feel bad. I hate having to sit around and wait for him to kick it.
Needless to say I'm having a pretty crap day.
I hope your holiday weekend has started off better then mine, enjoy the fantastic weather!

7.01.2010

summertime

It is the first day of July and the weather outside couldn't be any better. The outrageous humidity of last week is long gone and has been replaced with a cool rough breeze that's reminiscent of spring. I'd die if this weather decided to sick around all summer but no such luck. A sticky holiday weekend and a few 100+ days next week are the only thing in my future.

get your drink on

These Moroccan mint teas have me absolutely drooling. It seems lately I can't get enough of tea, and when I stumbled upon this delectable recipe earlier today I couldn't help but get seriously excited.

2 tbsp. Chinese gunpowder tea or green tea
16 lumps sugar or 1⁄3 cup granulated sugar
1 bunch mint, stems discarded (about 25 sprigs)

1. Place tea, sugar, mint, and 4 cups boiling water in a teapot and stir until sugar dissolves; let sit for 10 minutes.

2. To serve, strain tea into serving glasses.
Serves four to six

I've got hoards of mint growing throughout my yard and every year when summer rolls around I am always at a loss for what to do with it all. I usually end up overloading my homemade lemonade with mint leaves and I'm thrilled to finally have another use for it all.
What do use use mint for?

6.30.2010

I am simply dying over this photo and just can't seem to get enough of specimens these days, all kinds. I have a out of control fear of bugs, spiders in particular, but when they're enclosed in glass and presented in a beautify scientific way I absolutely swoon. I'd die for just about anything from the fantastic shop Bug Under Glass

6.29.2010

Seriously,

Who are we kidding? We both know I"ll bolt before the end.

6.25.2010

This Week

I've been feeling quite a bit under the weather for the last week. I have so many things on my to do list, so many projects I want to start, and I accomplished absolutely nothing this week besides spending five hours in the emergency room and watching a obsessive amount of HGTV. Good news is I'm finally starting to feel this thing wearing off, which could not make me any happier.
